Musical Theatre

Musical Theater is a four-hour weekly group class. Students are trained in acting, singing, and dancing while rehearsing for our full musical theatre productions. Tuition is monthly.

SUMMER 2018
Disney’s PETER PAN, JR
for ages 7-17

Rehearse and perform a full theatrical production. Based on the Disney film and J.M. Barrie’s enchanting play, Disney’s Peter Pan JR. is a modern version of the timeless tale about a boy who wouldn’t grow up. The score includes new arrangements of classic Disney songs and a story featuring one rousing adventure after another. Their Neverland journey introduces them to the Lost Boys, Mermaids, Indians and even the infamous pirate, Captain Hook! Class meets M-F 9:30 am – 3:30 pm for two weeks. Performance on 7/20. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your spot in the camp. Deposit is transferable before June 1st.

FALL 2018
Disney’s NEWSIES for ages 10-adult

Stop the presses! This Disney film turned Tony-winning Broadway hit inspires everyone to fight for what’s right and seize the day! Set in turn-of-the century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right! Classes begin August 6,2018, and rehearsals are Mondays 5:30-7:30 and Saturdays 1:30-3:30. Ages 10-adult.

To be considered registered, we must have a credit card on file. Your account will be automatically drafted a $50 non-refundable deposit immediately to secure your spot and then $120 monthly tuition on the first of each month of class.

SPRING 2018 PRODUCTIONS:

Disney’s BEAUTY & THE BEAST Jr for 7-14 year olds
The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. Classes begin Saturday, January 6, 2018. Rehearsals are on Thursdays 6:00-7:30 pm and Saturdays 1:30-3:00 pm. Fee: $110/month. Performances May 25th and 26th.

HAMILTON for 10-18 year olds
Be in “The Room Where it Happens” when we go on the Hamilton journey. This class will be an in-depth look at what has made this musical so successful while also noticing its historical accuracy as it relates to the birth of our nation. We’ll learn the plot of Hamilton and study its famous songs and dance numbers. Come ready to sing and dance as we re-create scenes from this iconic musical. Classes begin Monday, January 8, 2018 and meet weekly from 5:30-6:30 pm. Fee: $70/month.

All prices for spring semester musical theatre classes above are the monthly tuition, however enrollment is for the semester. Enrollment requires a credit card on file, and tuition will be automatically filed at the first of each month during the semester.

 

Triple Threat Program

Getting noticed in a sea of performers can be challenging. How can you make sure you stand out? Become a Triple Threat!

Triple Threat performers are those who excel at acting, singing, and dancing. Being well-trained in each of these skills gives an advantage in landing a variety of roles over those who choose to train in a single skill only.

 

Additional Classes

Expression City offers a variety of acting lessons, from on-camera acting classes for TV and film, to drama and musical theatre classes for stage, to private acting coaching, to audition taping for youth and adults.

Our teachers are working actors who are knowledgeable in the art and business of acting. We work with students who are new to the business as well as seasoned actors who want to perfect their skills. We specialize in providing safe, non-judgmental coaching and encouragement to work authentically, make mistakes, and learn from honest feedback.
